Assistive Technology is about inclusion in society after all. Ultimately, yes this is a business decision for Nuance and you are right to say there are pratical and commercial realities around aspects like support and even pirating but if they are planning on removing access to a widely used option, then they ought to be made to wear the public consequences of their decision. They will likely be stuffed by the move to cloud based Dragon. Also, you may or may not be aware but there is a very active community of creators of add ons for Dragon who seek to add additional features and function to the software eg to allow it to be used more effectively by those with vision impairments. I've had an albeit quick look at the Medical One manuals and can't find a reference made to this application offering the same degree of full hands free control that Dragon Naturally Speakings does. Yes I am aware that there may well be more efficient ways of moving around in Window but this is what they want and are used to. A lot of my clients (people with disabilities) require the ability to move their mouse pointer via voice and to designate the click types they want. Hi there, As you have tried and I haven't, can you please amplify on your comment "the only area where it is lacking in functionality are advanced script and capabilities" - and confirm that Cloud Based Dragon (based on Dragon Medical One) provides full hands free control of mouse functions. Nuance needs to be told by anyone and everyone who is concerned about the phase out of standalone Dragon that this decision has consequences and as a good corportate citizen they need to reconsider. This propsed decision by Nuance has direct impacts upon their quality of life and is highly regrettable if true. Dragon Anywhere (the cloud based mobile Dragon solution being proposed as a replacement) has nothing like the feature set of Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional. Many people who have high level spinal injuries, progressive neurological disorders, and dyslexias have used Dragon Naturally Speaking to participate in employment, study, and leisure activities. While of course the software is Nuance's to do with what they will, they need to understand that people with disablities have no other high end fully featured solution available that allows them the same degree of hands free access to their PCs. If true this will place many thousands of users with disablities who rely on the software at a disadvantage. It has been reported in multiple online forums that Nuance are planning to sunset Dragon after v15.6 is released.
